Neonatology

Professor Dr. Mohammad Monir Hossain is currently working as Professor of Neonatal Medicine, NICU & Critical Care of Paediatrics at the Bangladesh Institute of Child Health (BICH) & Dhaka Shishu (Children) Hospital. He received his PhD from the University of Dhaka for his research work on neonate receiving intensive care in 2006. After his graduation (MBBS) in 1987, he completed Doctor of Medicine in Paediatrics (MD) in 1997. He became fellow (FCPS) of Bangladesh College of Physicians & Surgeons in 1999 and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCP Glasg) in 2009, Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (FRCP Edin) in the same year and Royal College of Paediatric & Child Health (FRCPCH), UK in 2010. Since 2001 Professor Hossain has been serving as Assistant Professor, Associate professor and Professor at Bangladesh Institute of Child Health & Dhaka Shishu (Children) Hospital.Professor Hossain has authored several publications in various journals and books. His publications reflect his research interests in critical care in neonatology. He was the Executive Editor of Bangladesh Journal of Child Health (BJCH).

Dr. Rana Sharara-Chami has completed her MD at the American University of Beirut and residency in Pediatrics and fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care from North Carolina Children’s Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School respectively. She is now an assistant professor at the American University of Beirut Medical center, associate program director and simulation program director. Her research interest is in Education in general and in simulation in particular. She has several publications on the field and currently has grant coverage for several educational projects.

Olfat Nasser Alzaabi is Pediatric Consultant and Head of Pediatric Department at Fujairah Hospital. She received her MBBS from Dubai Medical College for Girls in 2003. She trained at UAE University, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and completed her pediatric Arab board residency in 2011. She is member of Royal College of Pediatric and Child Health since 2013. Dr. Alzaabi is faculty at RAK Medical College and was recently appointed Director of Pediatric Arab Board Residency Program at Fujairah Hospital. Beside her clinical interest in neonatology and management of extreme preterm babies, she is passionate about pediatric cardiology

Robert E. Cilley, MD completed General and Pediatric Surgery training at the University of Michigan. He is currently Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics and Ballantine Professor of Surgery at Penn State College of Medicine, Hershey, PA, USA. He is the Chief, Division of Pediatric Surgery and Surgeon-in-Chief at Penn State Children’s Hospital, Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. He was previously the medical director of the Pediatric Trauma Program. He has published over 80 peer-reviewed articles and more than 30 book chapters. His areas of scholarly and professional interest include pediatric trauma, ECMO, lung development, surgical quality and safety.

Bradley A. Kuch MHA, RRT-NPS, FAARC is a graduate from Ohio University with a Master in Health Care Administration and Services and Transport Team at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. His past roles included Neonatal/Pediatric Transport Therapist and ECMO Coordinator/Researcher in the Dept. of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery. Current research interests include Pediatric Acute Lung Injury and Neonatal/Pediatric Severity of illness modeling during ECMO. His team’s work “First 24-h SNAP-II score and Highest PaCO2 predicts the need for ECMO in Congenital Diaphragmatic hernia” was published in the Journal of Pediatric Surgery.

Alejandro González, MD, is anesthetist who performed a Fellow in Pediatric Anesthesia in Melbourne, Australia, in 1999. Since then, he has been working in pediatric and outpatient anesthesia. He was Director of an Ambulatory Surgery Center for five years (2001-2005), and he also was President of The Chilean Society of Anesthesiologists (2007-2009). He has published several papers about outpatient anesthesia and pediatric anesthesia.
